I think this is a Gymnocalycium mihanovichii (neon cactus) hybrid , being pink and brown striped, on a rootstock and long funnel shaped white flowers. At present it is getting the treatment the neon cactus would get - Bright ambient light but not direct sun. Hopefully to prevent it from losing it's fabulous colouring.
I bought this 20 months ago from a really cheap supermarket when I lived in Welwyn Garden City. It was in full flower when I got it - a long blood red spike with clusters of yellow bead like flowers. I hasn't flowered again since, which is a little disappointing. It has been kept in the same way that any Bromeliad should be - watered in the center of the leaves with rain-water or filtered water.
